St Catherine

Dancing Master 1701
Charles Bolton
longways proper

A1 First corners (M1 & W2) set forward, acknowledge, turn single R back to place,
   and RH turn.
A2 Second corners set L&R, turn single L, and LH turn.
B All take one step back with the R foot and close with the L foot (hitch back) (2),
then cross Rsh with ptn and turn R to face again (6). Do all that again.
Four steady changes of rights and lefts (3 steps each), and on the last four beats
of the tune, couple 1 lead down to progress as couple 2 cast straight up.

The tune is by John Barrett (1676-1719), and its twisting and turning presumably imitates the movement of the wheel on which St Catherine was martyred.
