       back into each other’s place *
   5-8 1W and 4M cross in the same way
A2 1-4 Middle couples half figure 8 through end couples 
       (All are now improper.)
   5-8 Partners dance back-to-back.
B1 1-2 In fours, right hand star halfway. 
   3-4 Dancers in first corner positions chasse into each other's
       positions, passing face to face and changing hands from right to
       left while dancers in second corner positions turn single left.
   5-6 In fours, left-hand star halfway. 
   7-8 Dancers in second corner positions chasse into each other's
       positions passing face-to-face, and changing hands from left to
       right while dancers in first corner positions turn single right.
B2 1-4 Circle eight halfway (finishing opposite partner).
   5-8 Partners give right hands and balance forward and back, then
       change places, turning the woman under.
Progressed position is 3-1-4 - 2. Repeat three times to places.

Alternative Al bars 1-4: Top man and bottom woman meet (1 bar), half gypsy right (1 bar), turn single right (1 bar) and fall back into each other’s place (1 bar). Teaching Tip. The chasse in waltz time is danced thus: Beat 1: step; Beat 2: close trailing foot to leading foot; Beat 3: pause. Repeat.
