A longways dance in two parts,

Tune: DEVONSHIRE HOUSE
Part I
A1 All face up. While first couple cast down than move up the set
crossing to top places proper. second couple cross up to top place
improper then cast down (2nd man follows 1st man, 2nd woman follows 1st woman)
A2 1-2 Hands four and circle L halfway (to progressed places) then partners |
release but neighbors retain hands.
3-4 First man continuing to his left goes three quarters round second
woman, arching over her to finish outside her, both facing down and
second man moves similarly round and arches over first woman to
finish outside her both facing up (the women stand still).
BI 1-4 All move forward a double (down or up the set) into a line of four
across the set, then fall back a double again.
5-6 Releasing neighbors hands, women cross while men Move to their
progressed places (neighbors are now across the set)
7-8 Men cross, and partners face across the set.
B2 1-4 Partners cross to original places, then again face.
5-6 Circular hey taking hands. Three changes, all to progressed places
Part II
A1 First couple lead down trough second couple and cast up to place
A2 Second couple lead up trough first couple and cast down to place
BI Women cross. then original neighbors (across the) cross. Then
partners turn (along he line of he set)
B2 Men Cross then partners (across the set) cross. Then partner turn
one and a halt times. All to progressed places.
Note: The two parts may be treated as separate dances, or they may be alternated in successive rounds, the whole then involving a double Progression.
