Three Gude Men

1st couples improper
AABB = 16 bars (three steps in each bar)
A1 1-4 Forward a double (up or down) to
opposite couple, give two hands to
neighbor and slip (3 steps) away from
set. Turn this person w.ii1 both hands
halfway, then lead back to the set.
A2 5-8 2nd couple gate 1st couple once round
(out the top: 6 steps). 1st couple then
dance a half figure eight (6 steps), while
2nd couple wait for 1st couple to pass,
then cross over by right shoulders. (all
progressed, but crossed from their
original sides)
B1 9-12 Turn partners by the right hand halfway
(slow, 6 steps). The women (in 2nd
corner positions) change places, then
the men change places.
All end unprogressed and on crossed sides)
B2 13-16 Circle four hands halfway. Turn partners
with two hands once round.
End facing up or down to next couple.
A Square Waltz

Square for 4 couples
Musicians’ choice of AABB 32-bar waltz — moderate tempo ( of = 124)
A1 1-8 Sides face partners and fall back, while
heads lead in: dance a Grand square,
A2 1-8 Four women dance a grand ladies chain
(right hand star in the middle). Make
wide left-hand turns with opposite and
partner rather than “courtesy” turns.
When returning to partner, turn by the
left hand 1 1/4 times to face next person
around square (men facing ccw, women
facing cw, the same direction as in a
grand chain).
B1 1-8 Wide right hand turn halfway to pass with
the one you face (2 bars), then a wide
left hand turn with the next, retaining
hands to sweep into a promenade hold.
1-8 Promenade with this person (original
opposite) most of the way around the
set (3 bars). On the final bar, the women
cast back one place and men keep
moving forward to meet new partners.
B2 1-8 All waltz 3/4 of the way around the
square with this new person (original
corner) to the woman's original home.
Jump At The Sun

Longways duple minor
A1 1-4 1st couple set diagonally forward to
corners (as in Dublin Bay). 1st woman
and 2nd man then turn once by the
right, while the others turn by the left.
5-8 1st couple lead down through the next
2nd couple below and cast back up to
progressed place while 2nd couple
dance up the outside and lead back
down to face original 1st couple.
A2 1-4 All set (toward center of foursome) and
turn single. Circle left once round. End
progressed, with 1st couple improper.
B1 1-8 Taking hands on the sides, all fall back
with neighbors and set. Dance two
changes of a right and left, giving hands.
B2 1-4 1st couple dance half a figure eight
(down). All circle halfway to the left (now
proper and progressed). 2nd couple
gate the 1st couple once around.
Jump At the Sun, by John Kirkpatrick, tune is familiar to most musicians. Tempo should be 108.
