May Gadd, whose nickname was “Gay,” was one of Cecil Sharp's dance demonstrators. In 1927 she was sent to America by the English Folk Dance Society to organize and teach the New York branch., In 1937 she was named National Director of CDSS and served in that capacity until 1972.
