A QUICK ROMP IN THE HEY
Gary Roodman
A Longways for Three Couples
Middle Couple Improper
Historical English Style
Tune: A QUICK ROMP IN THE HEY
Al 1-2 Everyone give right hand to partner, then left.
3-4 Continuing to hold crossed hands, turn halfway.
5-8 Holding just right hands, turn once and a half
back to place.
A2 TIGHT SHETLAND HEY, WOMEN IN THE LEAD:
Moving as couples--women in the lead,
followed by partners—-do one grand hey for three,
back to places (bottom couple waits just a moment
before beginning.)
Bl 1-4 DIAGONAL CROSSES FROM THE TOP:
M1 and M2 change places; then M1 (who is in the
middle) and M3 changed places (pass right shoulder
both times).
5-8 Everyone cast over right shoulder and move one
place to left around the set; then face partner
(who is across from you) and pass through. *
B2 1-4 DIAGONAL CROSSES FROM THE BOTTOM:
W3 and W1 change places; then W3 (who is in the
middle) and W2 changed places (pass right
shoulder both times).
5-8 Again, everyone cast over right shoulder and move
one place to left around the set; then face partner
(who is again across from you) and pass through. *

MUSIC; “An Urgent Tune» by Jonathan Jensen.
Teaching point:
In A2, there is no “forgiving” and absolutely no
time for any extra looping guy and in as you weave through. The
women bear most op the responsibility for making this work.
* Crossing People can skip the casting and just move to the left.
