Al 1-2 partners set forward right and left; 3-4 1s two-hand turn halfway, ending close together facing down, while 2s fall well back and face up while 3s two-hand turn halfway. 5-8 IM and 2W left-hand turn once round while 1W and 2M right-hand turn once round ( “handy-hand” turns). A2 1-2 1s and 3s circle left halfway round... 3-4 Opening into a line of four facing up, while 2s move up to the top of the set and face down. TOP 2M 2W 3M 1M 1W 3W 5-8 Line of four step to the right and honor 2s (who do the same); then step and honor to the left. BI 1-2 Line of four dance up, while 2s move down, with 2M passing under an arch made by 1st and 3rd men and 2W passing under an arch made by 3rd and 1st women); then 1s draw the 3s in above them and all move into a 3-8 Symmetrical hey (returning to these places), 3s passing between 1s to begin. (The order of the set is now 3-1-2.) B2 1-4 1s (in middle place) cross over with partner and cast to the bottom of the set while 2s immediately lead up for 2 bars and then circle left halfway with 3s. (The order of the set is now 2-3-1, all improper.) 5-8 All take right hands with partner, balance forward and back, then change places, the men turning their partners under their joined hands. (The order of the set is now 2-3-1 ail proper.) Repeat two times to places.
Teaching Tip: This dance can be unforgiving if the dancers lose their way in the hey. Emphasize that they return to the place where they began the hey.
