MUSIC: Adapted from “Vivace” from Sonata No. 6 in G Minor, RV 58, by Antonio Vivaldi. To regularize the music for dancing, I have had to omit a bar or two in the A part and round off some endings to bring them to resolution. I am hoping that Vivaldi and my friends will forgive me.
Teaching Point 1:
In A(1-8), I teach the first corners their part
first and then fold in the half hey for the second corners. Then I
do the opposite for A(9-16).
Teaching Point 2:
It is helpful in B(5-10) to have everyone stop to
get oriented for the heys. Each couple will do the hey with the
two couples facing them (their own and next one). First couples
always turn foward each other at the top and bottom of the hey,
second couples turn away from each other at the top and bottom.
This dance is dedicated to Judy Grunberg who designed the covers for
all of my Calculated Figures books and for my CDs. I have often said
that Judy's designs are the main reason people pick up my books and
CDs and buy them. I am eternally grateful to my long-time friend.
