MUSIC: Own tune
Tune: Redwing
CHORUS: A Swing partner. B Promenade. FIGURE: Al (16 bars): First couple out to the right, circle half-way with the twos so that there are now three couples (ones, twos, fours) facing across the set. Dip and dive across and back, middle couple arching and couples reaching the outside doing a California twirl to face back into the set, until twos and fours are back home and ones are in the middle (12 bars). Ones lead to threes and circle left half-way (4 bars). A2 Threes arch, ones dive under and move on to the fours. Circle half-way with them, and the same three couples dip and dive until until all are home. CALL: Oh you swing your little Redwing. You serenade her. You promenade her. Far oh far beneath the stars her brave is sleeping, While Redwing's weeping her heart away. First Couple: Lead out to the right and circle half; the inside couple arch. You dip and dive, across you go; the inside high and the outside low. Dip and dive, and dip and dive; you'd better not slow down. You dive right through to the outside two and circle half-way round. You dive to the right and circle half; the inside couple arch. You dip and dive, across you go; the inside high and the outside low. Dip and dive, and dip and dive, and listen while I sing. You dive right through, go home you two, and everybody swing. ROUTINE: Chorus, Figure for First couple, Chorus, Second couple, Chorus, Third couple, Chorus, Fourth couple, Chorus.
There are many variations in the call, and some callers use a different
introduction instead of the chorus; you can even yodel if you feel like it!
