For Windows, there are a number of programs. Freeware is listed at http:<nowiki>//</nowiki>www.mp3-converter.com/mp3_converter_freeware.htm

For Linux, I use the Lame encoder in the command line, the SoundJuicer CD Extractor and Audacity editor. Audacity is cross platform.
