====== Le Pistolet ======

Le Pistolet is a French country dance 
published in Raoul-Auger Feuillet Recueil de contredances mises en chorégraphie, d’une maniére si aisée, que toutes personnes peuvent failement les apprendre sans le secours, d’aucun maître et même sans avoir eu aucune connoissanse de la chorégraphie. Paris, 1706. 

Proper longways set as many as will (to prevent the dance from being too long, 4-8 couples are recommended)

13-16: Partners 1,5 two hand turn

**How to dance**

This is the so-called "contredanse of the second type by Feuillet"
1st round: the only 1st couple dance the figure, finiching on the opposite sides, 
facing M1 to L2, L1 to M2
2nd round: M1&L2, L1&M2 dance the figure, finiching M1 facing to L3, L1 to M3, 
M2 & L2 on the top position face to face proper
3rd round: M2&L2 at the very top, M1&L3, L1&M3 dance the figure
etc

Each couple, arriving at the top position, dances the figure with each other, 
switches places, and continues dancing on the opposite side until they reach the bottom. 
Once at the very bottom, the couple dances the figure with each other again, and then 
repeats with each partner who comes to them on their own side.
Couple 1, having returned to the top position, stops and does not dance anymore. 
The other couples, having returned to their starting positions, also stop. 
Thus, everyone waits until the last couple finishes dancing, at which point the dance ends.

The dance is called "Le Pistolet" because when the dancers stamp their feet, 
they mimic firing a pistol at their partner with their hand.
